Susan Haynsworth

Travel has always been a passion and an inspiration to Susan’s art, and she has spent time over the years visiting magical landscapes and artist’s havens, learning about culture and creativity in many beautiful settings. Influences as varied as collage, nature, Pop Art, and surfing can be found in Susan’s work, but the ocean is one of her greatest muses.

Coastal South Carolina inspires her daily, and she is passionate about helping to preserve its oceans and natural bird habitats through work with local organizations. She loves that she is now walking the same beautiful beaches that her ancestors before her enjoyed and treasured.

Debb Rugg Warren

Debb loves color and line and draws her inspiration from nature and landscape. She normally works on a few paintings at a time using photographs she has taken while traveling with her family.  She works with Acrylic and chalk, oil pastel and charcoal.  

“When I start a painting I normally don’t have a plan, I start with a color palette or maybe an image or landscape that I have seen.”

Anne Abueva

Charleston is a new home base for abstract artist Anne Abueva. She recently relocated from Chicago, IL where she spent over 10 years working in interior design and gradually transitioned to full time artist.

Anne's work is known for being expressive and bold with an emphasis on color and movement. Her ability to share emotion and communicate through her brushstrokes is what attracts the viewer and creates connection. She explores experiences of loss, grief, healing and peace in her work.

Kevin Smith

Every place contains a story. Kevin Smith’s painting with oil allows him to examine a location and how people see it at a specific time of day, time of year or point of human interaction.

“I strive to depict an environment that causes the viewer to ask what the untold story might be.”

Asher Robinson

Pawleys Island street artist, Asher Robinson creates a variety of one of a kind, colorful pieces at affordable prices. The aquatic inspired artwork is created from acrylic on plywood board.

Taylor Faulkner

Taylor describes her art as sketchy, with a touch of detail and whimsy. She finds her inspiration from being outdoors, surfing, skating and watching her surroundings.

Gary Bodner

Gary considers himself a colorist and is constantly looking for interplay of colors on his canvases. After many years working as a doctor, Gary Bodner retired to devote himself to painting full time. Gary shows enormous energy and passion for his artwork. He describes his work as strong and colorful with an expressionistic style.

"The power of juxtaposing or placing one color on top of another to create an image is what drives my paintings.”

Susan Colwell

Susan was raised in Toledo, Ohio and lived in Zurich, Switzerland. Her love for art grew as her family traveled throughout Europe. Susan worked in social work and for adverting agencies.

"The Lowcountry is a continual source of inspiration because I am moved by the ever-changing light and the softness I feel in the atmosphere."

Paige Smythe

Paige is a contemporary mixed-media artist inspired by the endless details, colors, and patterns found in nature and the changing seasons. A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, her interest in the arts began as a child. She then gained a BFA in Studio Art at The College of Charleston where she stuck around and currently resides with her husband. Through collage she focuses on the details and layers found in floral designs as well as the emotions evoked by those who give and receive bouquets.

Claire Kendall

Claire is a fine artist and painting instructor in Charleston. Her work falls in the contemporary realism genre, but she refers to classical, academic art as a metric for the quality of her work.

“The natural world and the beauty of things that simply grow out of the ground or are delicately made by human hands inspire me. I specifically love painting flowers and portraits and trying to capture the likeness of something complex and unique.”

Kate Comen

Kate Comen’s collection of works is centered around the idea of putting a spin on the traditional still life.

“Food is a very universal subject , one in-which everyone can relate to. While the food and dishes could be similar to a traditional still life, the perspective, colors, and patterning that Kate uses differentiates it.”
